Christmas in September
at The Abbey Food and Bar®

Flurries of snowflakes blew at the entry of The Abbey Food and Bar® in West Hollywood on September 6th. Elves, Fairies and many of Santa’s Helpers were all on hand to gather toys for the Children’s Hospital of Los Angeles. Did you know that every child that comes to Children’s Hospital, as a patient, receives a toy? Regardless of the season, each child receives a gift at admission.

By the time September rolls around, the hospital “Toy Locker” is bare. That is when “Santa” David Cooley opens up The Abbey to one and all, inviting them to bring a toy to refill the Children’s Hospital toy chest. In return, each Abbey Guest receives a free drink per toy as well as substantial hors d’oeuvres and desserts. A live 20-piece orchestra plays Holiday tunes amidst the “Babes in Toyland” decor. No “Bah Humbug” here! The “Spirit” and “Spirits” are Merry and Bright!

Leisureworld.com™ donated over $9,000 worth of toys, costumes, games and dolls to fill the gigantic red sleigh “parked” in The Abbey entryway. These toys were creatively displayed through the artistic magic of Rheanna Le. Her “Santa” Helpers, Jesus Hernandez and Anh Tran, brought their talents to festoon The Abbey with ribbons, ornaments and decor. Visions of sugar plums and gingerbread men danced in the minds of all when they walked through the Abbey door and gazed upon the well-laden sleigh. No room for Santa on this sleigh…it was too packed! Santa will have to fly “stand-by”!

Even the Los Angeles Fire Department paid a visit. Ten of LAFD’s finest showed up, each with a HUGE sack of toys for the wee ones. Everyone cheered at the sight!

Santa’s flight schedule is the same for next year…a Christmas “fly by” over The Abbey in September 2017. Merry Christmas to All and to All a Good Night!
